Catalogs and orders

Just want to tell you that I have several boxes of the new catalog scheduled to arrive tomorrow, June 26th. I plan to include one with the stamp club orders I will be delivering on Friday. If you would like a catalog/idea book, please email me or stop by. Cost to non club members is $5.00.

A personal note:

As some of you already know, I have emergency custody of two nieces and a nephew. Their older sister just arrived at my house Wednesday evening. She will be 18 in a few weeks, so the court did not take custody of her. I am telling you all this so that you might be patient with me while I make the adjustment to becoming a "mom" again. I plan to continue with my Stamp business and have workshops, clubs and classes, but I need to keep my schedule a little more open for a bit. The Annual Appreciation Dinner is scheduled for July 17 & 18, details are on my calendar. Please RSVP as soon as possible. I will try to get an email out to notify all my hostesses of their eligibility for attendance.

The new catalog will be available on July 1st, so if you are interested in receiving one of these awesome idea books let me know. New clubs are forming for July too, so if that is something you are interested in let me know about that too please.

Card Class

Just a reminder that my Quick Card Class is tomorrow night (Friday June 12th) at 6:00 PM. We will be making six cards with matching envelopes; two each of three designs. Class fee is $15 and you can pay at the door. If you RSVP before 2:00 on Friday I will have your packet ready for you when you arrive. If you attend with out a reservation, you will have to wait for me to cut your card stock after you arrive.

Long time...

Wow, it has been a very long time since I posted anything to this blog! April is a tough month for me; most of you know that my only sister passed away last April following a very fast acting cancer. She was only 50. This month I found out that both my mom and dad have cancer, so my mind has been elsewhere.

However, I had some good friends nudge me into having a card class...just what I need to get me going again. ;) Thanks Sue & Melissa! So, if you are available Friday evening May 1st around six, or Saturday afternoon around one, stop by and make some quick cards. There will be no pre-registration, you can come whenever...just not after nine Friday night. Class fee will be $15, pay at the door. We will make six cards and envelopes...two each of three designs. You can choose your own greeting, so if you need birthday cards you can stock up this weekend. :) Need more than six cards? Double the fee, come both times, whatever works for you.

I will have iced tea available, but if you would like to bring a snack to share that would be awesome. Some of the designs will be repeats of favorite cards from the past, and I may even use a retired stamp set or two. It's hard to leave some of those favorite stamp sets on the shelf! :)

Also, my friend Sue is sponsoring a "Gift a Day in May" to raise money for the Holzer Clinic Relay for Life Team. If you would like to participate in that event let me know and I will forward the gift chart to you.

Hello Spring!

Spring has sprung here in Oak Hill! I am so happy for the new beginnings that each and every spring brings...I love seeing all the flowers blooming and hearing the spring peepers at night...

Exciting News from Stampin' Up!

Beginning July 1, 2009 Stampin' Up! will be returning one Idea Book & Catalog per year!

Mini catalogs will be released three times a year and sales periods will be a full four months long! Also, a small selection of hostess benefits will be made available in each mini catalog! Yeah!!!

Decor Elements catalogs will remain a separate issue and will be released twice a year!

Valentine Treat Box

Here is a cute idea for a quick treat for those you love! This project was featured at my "Love You Much" class.

Cut a piece of Close to Cocoa card stock 4" x 7-1/2"

Score it at one half and one inch intervals along each edge,

fold sides in to create the box. Trim off excess card stock in corners but leave one small tab to tuck under the fold at the adjacent corner.

Cut a 3-1/2" x 7" piece of a transparency and score each edge one half inch in to create lid.

Paper Heart Pictorial

To make the hanging paper heart, you will need a paper trimmer, 6" x 6" double sided paper, 8" of 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, the Crop-A-Dial, a 3/4" circle punch, the Heart to Heart punch, scissors, mini brads, and glue dots.


First, cut the 6" x 6" DSP into nine strips approximately 5/8" wide. Stack together and punch a hole through all nine strips near one end.



Stack five strips together with the design you want to be on the outside of your heart facing up. Place a mini brad through the hole you previously punched, then fold the ribbon in half and push it onto the brad as shown.

Now, stack the remaining four strips of DSP on top of the ribbon facing the opposite direction and secure the brad.

Turn four strips of DSP from each side of the stack up toward the loop of ribbon. You will have one strip left that should be in the opposite direction of the ribbon.

Pull the eight strips of DSP together at the top, leaving the one strip (this should be in the very middle of the stack next to the ribbon) at the bottom.

You will now start to form your heart. Hold your assembly by the single strip of paper and bring the outside strip (at the top) of DSP from each side down toward the strip that you are holding. Be careful not to crease your paper.

Do the same thing with the next strip on either side to form the next "layer" of the heart.

And so on with the third strip on each side.

And finally the fourth and last strip. You may have to adjust the inner loops to make them evenly spaced.

Holding all nine strips of DSP together, punch a hole through the bottom of the heart and secure it with another mini brad.

Cut the edges off even below the brad.

Punch a 3/4" circle from white cardstock.

Punch a small heart from a scrap piece that you cut off the heart below the brad.

Layer the heart on the circle and attach it to the center of the heart using glue dots.


And there you have it! Enjoy my first tutorial! :)

Club projects

We will be making this cute card and adorable paper heart at this month's club meetings!

Real red, chocolate chip and whisper white card stock is used along with designer paper from the level one hostess patterns pack. The stamp set is Stampin' Up!'s "A Happy Heart" which can be found in the Holiday Mini catalog.

A Tea Party?

The date would be Saturday February 7, 2009 at 10 AM. The cost would be $30 with an early bird special of $25 if paid by January 24, 2009. Beverage and pastry will be included along with Stampin' Up! projects.
